Calendar and attendance3 min read
Welcome! This guide is for teachers. FrontRow keeps everything you need for class in one place: who's coming, who has allergies, attendance, and a quick way to reach parents. It's built to work well on your phone, so you can use it right from the studio floor.
Your home: My classes#
When you sign in, you land on My classes. It shows the classes you're teaching today, in time order.
Choose Next 7 days to see the week ahead, grouped by day. Choose Today to come back.
Each class card shows:
- The time and room
- How many students are enrolled
- How many are coming for a make-up, how many parents said their child will be away, and how many you've marked so far
- Cancelled if the class isn't running (for example on a holiday)
- Sub requested if you've asked for cover
Before class: check the roster#
Choose Roster and parents on a class to see who's coming.
- Allergies and medical appears at the top whenever a student has allergies or medical notes. Give it a quick read before you start.
- Each student shows their age and level.
- Make-up means they're joining from another class to make up a missed one.
- Reported away means a parent already let the studio know they won't be there.
- Emergency contacts are listed under each student. On a phone, tap the number to call.
During class: take attendance#
Choose Take attendance, then tap P (present), L (late) or A (absent) for each student. Every tap saves by itself. If most of the class is here, mark the few who aren't, then choose Rest present.
You can only take attendance for classes you're teaching. See Take attendance for the details.
Message the parents of a class#
Need to remind everyone about recital rehearsal, or let them know you're running late?
- Open the class with Roster and parents.
- Choose Message parents.
- Add a Subject and your Message.
- Check Also text those who opted in if it's urgent.
- Choose Send.
It goes to the parents of everyone enrolled who agreed to hear from the studio. Replies come back to the studio inbox, so you can find them under Inbox in the menu.
Can't make a class?#
Open the class with Roster and parents and choose Request a sub. The office assigns someone to cover just that session. See Request a substitute.
See the whole studio schedule#
Open Calendar in the menu to see every class at the studio, not just yours. It's view only for teachers.
What if My classes is empty?#
- No classes today: you're not teaching today. Check Next 7 days.
- Your login isn't linked to a teacher yet: ask the studio owner or an admin to add you to the teachers list using the same email you sign in with.
- A class you teach is missing: ask the office to check you're set as the teacher for it.
What teachers can and can't do#
Teachers can see their classes, rosters and the calendar, take attendance for their own classes, message parents of their classes, and request subs. Billing, enrolling students, editing family details and changing the schedule are handled by the office.
