Switching to FrontRow

Switch systems. Keep every family and every balance.

Import straight from what you use now, check the exact numbers before anything is saved, and charge nobody until you approve the first run.

How the move works

Most owners put off switching because moving the data looks risky. Each step shows you the result before anything is final.

  1. 1

    Import

Upload an export from your old system, or any CSV. The seven systems we know already have their columns mapped.

  2. 2

    Check it

Read the problems found, do a dry run, and roll the whole import back if it's wrong.

  3. 3

    Collect the cards

A card request texts and emails every family without a card a link to add one in the portal, and reminds them until they do.

  4. 4

    Approve the first run

A cutover checklist reconciles balances, confirms old autopay is off, and holds your first billing run until you say go.

Your old system's columns, already mapped

Jackrabbit, iClassPro, The Studio Director, DanceWorks, Dance Studio Manager, Studio Pro and Sawyer each have their own import profile, so their exports land in the right fields. A CSV from anywhere else gets the same column mapper.

  • Upload families, students, classes and balances as they came out of the old system
  • Change any mapping, or keep a column as a custom field so nothing is dropped
  • Problems are listed by row before anything is imported, so you fix them in one pass

See the exact numbers before anything is saved

The dry run runs the whole import and undoes it, so the counts you read are the counts you'll get. Balances are reconciled against your old system to the cent.

  • New and updated records, counted for families, students, enrollments and more
  • Opening balances checked against the balances in your files
  • Run a final import after the freeze and earlier records are matched and updated
  • Roll the whole import back in one step if the result is wrong

What comes over

Enough to run the studio from day one, plus the history you'll want when a family asks about last season.

  • Families and guardians, with contact details
  • Students across every class, camp and team
  • Classes and staff
  • Enrollments and waitlists
  • Opening balances and credits
  • Scheduled payments and class packs
  • Payment and invoice history
  • Attendance history and waivers

Cards back on file without the phone calls

Families add their own card or bank account in the new portal. A card request does the asking for you, and the payment methods page shows who's still missing one.

  • One text and email to every family without a card or bank account, with a link straight to the page where they add one
  • Reminders on the days you pick, sent only to families who still haven't added one
  • Coverage tracked against your target, so you know when you're ready for the first run
  • Card and bank details go to your own Stripe account, never into our database

A cutover checklist, in the order that works

Nine steps, from a trial import to retiring the old account. Each one unlocks the next, so nobody is billed twice and nobody is missed.

  • Freeze the old system

Pick a switch date, stop changes in the old system, then run the final import and reconcile.

  • Turn off old autopay

Confirm it's off before families are invited or the first run can be approved.

  • Approve the first run

Your first billing run waits for you. Keep the old account read-only for one cycle, then cancel it.

Coming from one of these?

Studios, gyms, camps and schools move to FrontRow from all of them. Anything else comes in through a CSV.

  • Jackrabbit
  • iClassPro
  • The Studio Director
  • DanceWorks
  • Dance Studio Manager
  • Studio Pro
  • Sawyer
  • or any CSV
  • Cards back on file without the phone calls

Every family without a card gets a text and email with a link to add one in the portal, and reminders until they do.

  • Check it before it counts

A validation report and a dry run show the result first, and the whole import can be rolled back.

  • Nobody is charged until you say so

Your first billing run waits for your approval, after balances are reconciled and old autopay is off.

Common questions

Which systems can you import from?

Jackrabbit, iClassPro, The Studio Director, DanceWorks, Dance Studio Manager, Studio Pro and Sawyer each have their own import profile. Anything else comes in through a CSV, with the columns mapped by you.

What do families have to do?

One thing: add a card or bank account in the new portal. The card request sends them the link by text and email, and reminds anyone who hasn't done it yet.

How long does switching take?

Most of the time goes on getting cards back on file. Start the card request as soon as your trial import is in, check the import while families add their cards, and run the cutover once coverage hits your target.

What if the import is wrong?

Roll it back. The whole import comes out in one step, and you can fix the file or the mapping and run it again.

Can we take our data with us later?

Yes. The account owner can export everything in full at any time. Your data being portable is not a feature we charge for.
