Ask Scout for help
Use Scout, FrontRow's built-in assistant, to answer questions, draft messages and find help articles.
Getting started2 min read
Scout is the assistant built into FrontRow. Ask it about your classes, families or billing in plain words, get help writing a message to parents, or look something up in the help center without leaving the page you're on. Everyone on staff can use Scout.
Open Scout#
Select the sparkle icon in the top bar. Scout opens in a panel at the side of the screen. On a computer you can also press Ctrl+J (or Cmd+J on a Mac). Press Esc or select the close button to put it away.
Scout has three tabs along the bottom:
- Home: ask a new question or pick a suggestion to get started.
- Chats: your past conversations with Scout.
- Help center: search and read help articles right inside the panel.
Ask a question#
Type your question in the box and press Enter. Some things you might ask:
- "Which classes have open spots right now?"
- "Help me draft a message to parents"
- "What enrollment trends should I know about?"
- "Help me find overdue payments and billing issues"
The suggestions on the Home tab match your role, so a teacher won't see billing suggestions.
Good to know: Scout is AI and can make mistakes. Double-check anything important, like a balance or a date, before you act on it.
Let Scout set something up#
Scout can suggest some changes for you, like creating a new class. It never makes the change on its own. You'll see a card with all the details, and nothing happens until you select the confirm button on it (for example, Confirm and create class). If you wait too long, the suggestion expires and you can just ask again.
Draft a message with Scout#
When you're writing an announcement, look for Draft with Scout:
- Select Draft with Scout.
- Under What should it say?, describe the message, such as "Picture day is next Saturday, hair in a bun, arrive 15 minutes early".
- Select Draft it. If you've already started writing, you can select Improve my message instead.
- Read the draft, then select Use this draft to put it in your message, or Discard to try again.
You can still edit the message before you send it.
Your past chats#
The Chats tab keeps your conversations with Scout for 30 days. Only you can see them. To start fresh, select the new chat button at the top of a conversation.
Find help without leaving the page#
On the Help center tab, search for what you need and read the article right there. If you're still stuck, select Ask Scout at the bottom of the article.
