Use two-step sign-in

Protect your account with a code from your phone, save recovery codes, and know what to do if you lose your phone.

Your account2 min read

Two-step sign-in (also called two-factor authentication) adds a second check when you sign in. After your password, you enter a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone. Even if someone learns your password, they can't get in without your phone.

Who needs it#

  • Owners and admins must use two-step sign-in. FrontRow asks you to set it up the first time you sign in, or when you're given one of these roles, before you can keep managing your studio.
  • Front desk staff and teachers can turn it on if they'd like the extra protection.

What you need#

An authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy. They're free in your phone's app store.

Set it up#

  1. Select your initials at the top right, then Security.
  2. Under Two-factor authentication (MFA), select Set up two-factor authentication.
  3. Enter your password to confirm it's you, then select Continue.
  4. Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code on screen. If you can't scan it, type in the key shown under it instead.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code your app shows, then select Turn on two-step verification.
  6. Save your recovery codes (see below), tick I've saved my recovery codes, and select Continue.

If you're an owner or admin being asked to set it up at sign-in, you'll go through the same steps on the Set up two-step verification screen.

Save your recovery codes#

Recovery codes let you sign in if you lose your phone. Each code works once. They're only shown once, so select Copy or Download and keep them somewhere safe, like a password manager.

Running low? On the Security page, select Generate new recovery codes and enter a code from your app. Your old recovery codes stop working.

Signing in with two-step sign-in#

After your email and password, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app and select Verify. Codes change every few seconds, so use the one currently showing.

If you don't have your phone, select Use a recovery code and enter one of your saved codes.

If you see Sign-in expired, it took too long or there were too many wrong codes. Select Start over and sign in again.

Lost your phone and your recovery codes?#

  • Front desk staff and teachers: ask your studio's owner. The owner can reach the FrontRow team to help you get back in.
  • Owners: email the FrontRow team at hello@frontrowhq.com.

Turn it off#

On the Security page, select Turn off, then confirm with your password and a code from your app. Owners and admins can't turn it off, because their role requires it.
