Message templates
Save messages you send often and reuse them in announcements and replies.

Templates are saved messages you can pick instead of typing the same thing again, like a closure notice, a payment reminder or a welcome note. They work in announcements and in one-to-one replies in the inbox.
Only owners and admins can create, edit and delete templates. Everyone who can send messages can use them.
Create a template#
- Open Inbox in the menu and choose the Templates tab.
- Select New template.
- Give it a Name your team will recognize.
- Choose the Channel: SMS or Email. Email templates also have an Email subject.
- Write the Message. Use the buttons above the box to add merge fields (see below).
- Select Create template.
Use merge fields#
Merge fields are placeholders that are filled in for each family when the message goes out. Select a button to insert one where your cursor is:
- Parent first name and Parent last name
- First child's name and All children
- Studio name and Studio phone
- Family balance
- Portal link, which takes the parent straight to their family portal
For example, a message that starts "Hi" followed by Parent first name reads "Hi Maria" for Maria and "Hi James" for James. A field shows in the message box in double curly brackets until it's filled in. If you type a field FrontRow can't fill in, you'll see a warning and can't save until you remove it.
Good to know: messages to leads (people who aren't families yet) can only use the parent's name and the studio's name and phone. If a template has other fields, you'll be asked to remove them before sending to a lead.
Use a template#
- In an announcement: choose it in the Template list. It fills in the subject and message, and you can still edit before sending.
- In the inbox: select Templates above the message box and pick one. Only templates for the channel you've chosen are listed.
Edit or delete a template#
On the Message templates page, use the edit button next to a template, make your changes and select Save template. To remove one, use the delete button and confirm with Delete template. Messages already sent with it aren't changed.
